The brief
Many adults want to learn a language for work, travel or family but drop out of apps that feel like games for teenagers or courses that demand an hour a day. We explored Kite as a language-learning app designed for commutes and lunch breaks: short, useful lessons that build towards real conversations, not streaks for their own sake.

Our approach
How we solved it.
Research with adult learners pointed to one design rule: every session must end with something you can say out loud. Lessons are ten minutes, start with a real situation such as ordering, introducing yourself or asking for directions, and finish with a short speaking practice. Progress is shown as situations you can handle, not points.
Because learners study on trains and planes, the app downloads the week's lessons in advance and works fully offline, syncing progress later. We planned the QA strategy alongside the design: automated tests for lesson flows and sync, accessibility checks for captions and screen readers, and a device matrix covering older, lower-memory phones.
